Lubrication instructions for gear box of mower:
Note: these instructions apply to all mower platforms with gear driven blades. For mowers with belt driven blades, refer to mower table lubrication in this section.
The mower gearbox (T-shaped gearbox and blade drive gearbox) is connected as an integral part, and oil flows freely between them.
This type of agricultural gearbox is permanently lubricated (oil filled) and sealed and does not require regular lubrication.
However, the transmission oil seal should be checked every 25 hours for signs of oil leakage; In particular, the lower seals of the blade drive gearbox should be checked because they work in a dirty environment.

If oil leakage is found, replace the oil seal and re-lubricate the gearbox assembly as follows:
1. Remove the transmission cover (foot pedal) of the mower. The deck direction shall be in normal operating position.
2. Clean the area around the gear case cover of the single mower to prevent contaminants from entering the gear case.
3. Remove the fixing screws of the blade drive gearbox cover.
4. Check the lubricating oil level in the transmission. If the lubricating oil is insufficient, add SAE EP (extreme pressure) 90W oil until the oil level reaches the horizontal shaft (submerged) in the gearbox (the shaft is parallel to the cover).
Note: if the gearbox is completely drained, there are about five fluid ounces (15 ml) of oil in each gearbox to refill the gear drive components.
Note: due to the transmission
It is connected as a unit through a connecting pipe, so it needs to add grease slowly. Wait a few minutes after adding oil to allow the oil to flow through the entire assembly and stabilize the oil level before reassembly.
Important: do not overfill the mower transmission. The gearbox assembly has no exhaust pipe. Filling the fuel may cause the pressure to be too high, resulting in oil leakage.
5. Check the condition of the cover gasket, and replace it if it is worn or damaged. Reinstall the transmission cover; Tighten the screws to 24 in LB (2.7 n ⋅ m).

The agricultural PTO transmission is designed to change the output speed of the PTO tractor drive shaft. It can be used as a reduction ratio or an increased ratio gearbox. The reduction ratio gearbox reduces the PTO shaft’s speed from 1000 rpm to 540 rpm, allowing you to use equipment designed for 540 rpm. On the other hand, increasing the transmission ratio gearbox increases the speed of the PTO shaft from 540 rpm to 1000 rpm.
